(COMTEX) B: AcSys US and Global TeleMedia Create Worlds First Smart-e B: AcSys US and Global TeleMedia Create Worlds First Smart-e-Card TORONTO, Jan 19, 2001 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- January 19, 2001. Heritage Concepts International Inc. (HCI) (TSE:HCI) announces that its US affiliate AcSys Biometrics US, has entered into a reciprocal technology contribution agreement with Global TeleMedia International, Inc., a California-based company. (OTCBB:GLTI). The agreement provides that AcSys US, which owns the exclusive worldwide Holographic Quantum Neural Technology (HNeT) license for face and speech recognition applications through its parent AcSys Biometrics Inc., will contribute HNeT to Global's majority-owned subsidiary, BentleyTel.com for use in the BentleyTel Smart-e-Card to create the BentleyTel AcSys Card. Jerry Janik, AcSys' president, said about this alliance, "We are very pleased about this agreement. To create the first card of its kind is very exciting. The combination of these two technologies is powerful and we believe only the beginning of things to come. We look forward to developing further breakthrough products with BentleyTel in the Smart Card industry." The BentleyTel AcSys Card is expected to be sold via the Internet, telemarketing and provided to large employers and government departments. Once purchased, initial enrolment can occur through the BentleyTel Smart-e-Cash machine, which has a built-in camera. HNeT recognition begins when the cardholder approaches a Smart-e-Cash machine at a distance of about six to ten feet. By the time the member has reached the machine he is recognized and a swipe of the card grants access. In the event the cardholder is not the true owner of the card, access is denied. The system is also successful in differentiating twins. No file is stored on the BentleyTel AcSys Card and the HNeT file takes only 2k of memory. Initial enrolment takes only 60 seconds and recognition thereafter will take less than one second. The HNeT system, which updates an individual file for changes in appearance or age every time the card is used, is patented or has patents pending in over 20 countries. Jonathon Bentley-Stevens, president of Global TeleMedia, said, "We have been searching for the perfect security solution for our Smart-e-Card and believe we've accomplished this with AcSys' technology. When we saw the HNeT technology, we understood that this could make the BentleyTel Smart-e-Card unique."
