And I thought state and church should be separated, shouldn't they?

Separated does not equate to eliminated. The US was founded by spiritually inclined individuals with disparate beliefs. They included the separation of church and state in order to preserve EVERYONE'S ability to practice and worship in their own way.

Please recall that in England, there was a state sanctioned religion. That was not the founding fathers of the US desired.

Why else does our currency bear the logo "In God We Trust" and the fact that our earliest national documents expound the concept of god-given rights.

As a polytheist, I would have to ask you from which one do you derive your personal individual rights?

No, what strikes me as the biggest problem Chinese leaders have with Falun Gong is that it represents a group of individuals who very numbers reflect a threat to the previous monopoly of "social influence" by the communists.

The communists have their own internal mechanisms for keeping dissident party members in line, but they have nothing but force to rely upon to contain collective "group think" eminating from external sources.
