Diamond Jim,

re: "I lived in Ca. for 41 years, what is it that we aren't doing right in your eyes?"

Well, you could say that the people of California elected politicians who, under the guise of deregulation, allowed the cost of energy to their utilities to rise, but fixed the price the utilities could charge. Selfish and stupid, and a sure path to bankruptcy. Then the people of California said "not in my backyard" to increasing power capacity, guaranteeing that they would have to depend on outside sources. None of those messy power plants for us Californians, we'll let people from other states have that stuff in their backyards.

It's the ultimate expression of the me generation in the me first state. Take but don't invest. And California is getting everything they deserve. It's unfortunate that future generations will have to pay for the selfishness of current California residents.
