I've also wondered why no one has taken a chance yet.

There seems to be more experimentation going on in Japan with i-mode and all that, so my guess is that it will happen there. Maybe it will be introduced initially for some service that doesn't require complex user input.

In the case of a more general-purpose handheld device, diddling around to get bits and pieces of information from an undersized screen is not my idea of productive. As you say, if you want to view the Web or some Office files that you're working on, the most productive format is the one you're used to working with, not some chopped-up, bastardized format. Kopin can do that, now.

Fan has remarked on several occasions that bandwidth limitations of the existing cellular infrastructure may dictate that they start with the Quarter VGA microdisplay; that is beyond Kopin's control. However, check out slide 23 of the November 2000 Investor Presentation:

They have Internet Phones, Wearable Computers, DVD Players and Games under the CyberDisplay 640 (VGA) and 1280 models. The slide show itself is well suited for viewing on a CyberDisplay and I assume it made a nice demo at the presentations.
