The regulars on this thread sat here in the November and December of 1999 and watched the repos and coupon passes roll out day after day and the Naz squirted up. Only one time did it falter. It was sometime around Dec. 6th, 9th? A day when the Open Market Desk was quiet.

First we were incredulous...then ranting...then it became a source of amusement. The consensus was it had to be y2k, there was simply no explanation for it.

Maybe you weren't around then. I don't recall.

But you have to admit that it's one hell of a coincidence that this chart peaks right after the first of the year...y2k...the Century Date Change as Uncle Al was so fond of calling it, no?
