Amy, <I disagree. It depends upon the type of the business. Electricity is a larger portion of costs for a manufacturing company, but not for a software company, where electricity is a small portion of the overall cost of doing business.>

Higher energy costs contributes to a higher cost of living. It's going to be that much harder to convince working talent to move to California if utility bills are much higher than, say, Colorado.

<Better to have reliable, expensive power than highly expensive downtime.>

Tell that to the Californians who still think it's all a hoax put on by the big bad power companies.
