AMD, Intel, Sun Get Processor Praise 01/19/01, 5:38 p.m. ET) TechWeb News (http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB20010119S0012) Analyst firm MicroDesign Resources, Sebastopol, Calif., announced the winners of its second annual Analyst's Choice Awards honoring the best new microprocessors for 2000 in technology, design, and innovation. AMD (stock: AMD) received best PC processor for its Athlon, Intel (stock: INTC)got best mobile processor for its mobile Pentium III with SpeedStep, and Sun (stock: SUNW) took best server processor for its UltraSparc III. The Toaster 2 chip from Cisco (stock: CSCO) and Intel's Xscale core were honored as the best network processor and embedded processor, respectively. ========================================================== Pretty good list of companies to share this honor with.
