BINGO !! i just got everything to work on the w95 machine. all av updates present and accounted for. making rescue disks now. it occurs to me that i have developed quite a knack for wading through the symantec knowledge base and picking out the appropriate document. all it takes is years of practice and the patience of a taxidermist specializing in hummingbirds! <g3> "Imagine if you ever got to the point where everything worked just the way you want. Total misery, no?" oh my, what a concept. it hurts to contemplate such a reality. :) mark
