Samsung Electronics Releases New 512Mb Flash Memory Chip

January 19, 2001 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. said it debuted a new 512Mb
flash memory chip that can be used in digital cameras, IMT-2000 handsets and laptops.

The memory chip installs a fine-tuned processing technology and has a circuit width of
0.15 micron.

Samsung Electronics said it plans to install the technology into existing 128Mb and
256Mb flash memory products. It expects to see US$800 million worth sales in its flash
memory business unit worldwide in 2001 and step up as the world's fifth-largest flash
memory chip supplier.
