Donald - On Navigator 4.7, go to the Preferences dialog box found under the Edit pulldown menu. Click on 'Fonts' under 'Appearance'. On the right side in the lower half of the box you will see the following:

Sometimes a page will specify its own fonts

Below this, chose the top selection, 'Use my fonts, overriding page-specified fonts' (try Geneva/14 for the variable width font and Geneva/12 for fixed width).
