I know that you and I tend toward moderation in our beliefs and our speech, so I was so glad to read your post here. I thought the Clinton airport scene was the most tasteless and disgusting display I have ever witnessed. To review the troops, to have Ruffles and Flourishes played, to make a veiled reference (imo, though maybe I misheard his reference to "popularity") to the illegitimacy of the Bush presidency and Hillary's taking up their cause was crass beyond belief. Does anyone remember when he and Hillary took the stage while her opponent was still giving his concession speech in NY? Rude, rude, rude. These people have no class and no sense of things bigger and more important than themselves.
And the reporters treat him as if he were an incorrigible, but adorable and precocious child. I just want to spank him and put him is longterm timeout- or maybe alternative schooling.
Today is the day that we transfer power with grace, with dignity, and with respect for what the ceremony and rituals represent, regardless of who won, or didn't. It is much bigger than a man or a party. BUt he just can't see beyond the me me me perspective that governs his every action.
