NEW YORK (Reuters) - After some horrific quarters in 2000, there may be a light at the end of the Wall Street tunnel in 2001. The stock market is no longer fumbling the ball as much as before and investors are having some good days. Not great days, just good days. And there's talk the market has reached a bottom....

Greenspan Back in the Spotlight

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. credit market investors will watch Federal Reserve (news - web sites) Chairman Alan Greenspan (news - web sites) speak before Congress next week to see if he will confirm their growing expectations for another jumbo half-point interest rate cut at the Federal Reserve's meeting in just over a week....

....Orr said futures contracts on the federal funds rate, a good gauge of market expectations for Fed moves, are pricing in nearly a 100 percent chance for another half-point rate cut at the next Fed meeting. Thus, any hint to the contrary from Greenspan could prompt a retreat in shorter-dated Treasuries....
