It is my understanding that the end cost of grid electrical energy to the user is several times that of energy generated at it’s source, plus the loss in energy by transmitting long distances over wires.. The public is willing to put up with theses high costs and energy losses, because it is very efficient to just flick a switch and power is at hand. Fuel cells can overcome the high cost and energy loss through transmission, but currently there is a user resistance to pay the high initial cost of installation, plus utilizing a product that that performance and utility are unknown to them. Once fuel cells are marketed and performance can be measured, there will be greater acceptance. If this technology becomes available in automobiles, the public will become acquainted with the operation and more inclined to adapt it for other uses. When availability and demand increases, costs will undoubtedly lower. As along term holder of BLDP stock, I find it comforting to reflect on these premises, and feel that there will be a time when the remaining major hurdles will become history. Fuel delivery will become practical, conversion to pure hydrogen from abundant renewable resources, lower capital costs, and higher efficiencies. There is also consideration for the freedom from being hostage to demands of oil rich countries who control energy price. When the World has converted to hydrogen energy, we as a country and as individuals will become richer in environment, utility, and finances. Individuals also will have the freedom from high costs and waste we now have to absorb because of inefficient delivery of energy. Stockholders must wait until things develop, and keep in mind that the time Ford made the Tin Lizzy practical for the populace was about fifty or more years after the combustion engine had been developed. Thankfully, development time for new technology is much more rapid these days. I am patient and hope you are too. At eighty one years of age, I have found that things become history very rapidly.
