Well Snowshoe, you know that I have no problem with wind power, but it is merely a stop-gap measure and subject to the vagaries of local wind speed:

Just in the last 24 hour period the wind speed at Nellis AFB has ranged from almost dead calm to a mild wind of 12 Mph. Such conditions hardly seem favorable for widescale wind power usage. But maybe they are locating these turbines in some mountain pass area which would channel the wind.

weather.noaa.gov

It's just amazing that they opt to spoil 600 acres to create 260Mw when they could satisfy the power needs of several million individuals on less than 10 acres by building a nuclear power plant.

Of course cooling water would probably be an issue in such a location.

Anyway... more "power" to them... but it still won't solve the problem.

Regards,

Ron
