(An aside though, thank you for your willingness to undertake the "kernel" of the network analysis on Qualcomm in addition to your in depth analysis of Nokia)

On the data tornados themselves, it is difficult to see yet what form, shape and content will emerge. But what seems clear is that Qualcomm will be increasingly involved.

One of the reasons I have respect for Qualcomm management is the flexibility on three possible wireless possibilities in handhelds: Palm, Win CE and EPOC.

The willingness to work with the competing systems and not commit to an exclusive choice, even with the lead Palm now has, shows vision IMO.

(As you have indicated in the past, it seems worth checking out the Symbian - Psion - Epoc possibilities as well as the current Palm involvement and keeping open Microsoft's possible revisions in Win CE to strengthen that approach.)

For the data tornado, the "sleeper" is the increasing set of licenses for non traditional uses very directly on the data/internet nexus - not just the voice networks. Examples are the wireless modems from licensees such as Sierra Wireless and Japanese manufactures inter alia, of everything from handhelds to computers.
