Any sociology professor at a community college worth his salt knows about Eric Hoffer. Perhaps he doesn't want to admit that the former darling of the left was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Reagan.

I don't know this, but Hoffer may be out of favor with academics because he didn't have the proper "education."
