Jan 19 2001 Asia BizTech Nikkei BT
Users will be able to browse contents written in three different content description languages.
The WWW Consortium (W3C), a standardization organization for the World Wide Web, will integrate three different content description languages: C-HTML (compact Hyper Text Markup Language), MML (Mobile Markup Language) and WML (Wireless Markup Language).
C-HTML is the content description specifications adopted by NTT DoCoMo Inc., and the latter two are from J-Phone group and KDDI group, respectively. The integrated specifications are expected to be established as the standard some time in 2001.
The integrated specifications will be the next version specifications for "XHTML Basic," which W3C standardized in December 2000, and it will be based upon C-HTML.
By using a mobile phone equipped with a Web browser that supports the new specifications, the user will be able to browse contents written in either C-HTML, MML, or WML. <<
