I notice that TWS bombs quite often (it runs for 2, 3 hours seemingly perfect) but then closes with a fatal exception. Anyone else experiencing trouble?

No. At least not with the old TWS. I have been running it for over a year with not more than one or two times where it did anything more than a disconnect, and those disconnects are usually internet service problems. You might do something to monitor your system resources. The problems I do have with my machine always happen when the market gets very busy, and my data service software overloads my processor trying to calculate indicators on real time charts. While IB's system is not always 100%, the stability of their workstation has never been one of the problems.
