NVLS ($45 soso) Sees Profit of 68 Cents

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Reuters) - Semiconductor equipment maker Novellus Systems (NasdaqNM:NVLS - news), which posted fourth-quarter net income of 69 cents per share, said in a conference call it expects to post earning of 68 cents per share in the first quarter of 2001.

Revenues in the quarter are expected to be $478.1 million, the company said. Bookings and shipments are expected to be $320 million and $430 million, respectively, the company said.

Novellus also said it has not seen order cancellations, despite difficulties now faced by many companies in the chipmaking business because of uncertainty about the economy.
