They always vote to their self interest--Corporation, Union, friend of a friend of a friend. But I agree with you; When the voting is done, practical people will allow their bread to be buttered.

I don't mean to sound too cynical either. Clearly, there is a great deal of consensus at the top levels, and they often share very similar values. Like two lawyers leaving the court room after hours of sniping, can shake hands, and then meet in the backyard for a barbeque with the sister and the wife (same person).
