Excuse me for interrupting, but you said: government retains power and authority by its willingness and ability to kill. If this is true, then governments that kill criminals should have more power and authority than those that do not. As has been pointed out, this is not the case. What evidence or logic can you cite to support the assertion cited above? What purpose is achieved by executing criminals that cannot be achieved as well by incarcerating them for life?
