The evidence you ask for is written everywhere in human history. Are you unaware of it? One purely random example: British rule in India. Another: Communist rule in China. There's nothing especially unique about either: Mussolini's Italy, Henry the VIIIth's England, Castro's Cuba, Augustus Caesar's Rome. Find bland a government that doesn't support his statement! >> What purpose is achieved by executing criminals that cannot be achieved as well by incarcerating them for life? << They have paid the highest possible penalty for their crime. Bland believes there are crimes that merit such a penalty. Pure and simple. That is why he chose the example he chose.
