Tony,

<< Brocade is getting to be a King in the switch area, Emulex doing well, but EMC hasn't gone there yet. >>

Brcd owns ~90+% of the FC switch market and is getting little competition from anyone right now. I have never seen a company grow employees like them...its incredible. Well, some claim that the 2 gig race (2 gig FC switches, directors) and the coming Infiniband (IB) world will be more competitive.

Emulex does not and will not make FC switches imo. They tried to buy Ancor, I believe, but lost out to Qlgc.

EMC currently sells Brcd switches primarily on the low end and Mcdata switches on the high end...EMC does not make their own switches and will not, imo. EMC wants to be switch 'agnostic' I believe, so it will most likely continue to sell BRCD, MCDT, and QLGC (which they only do a little of now) switches.

Interesting points about Sun and Dell. Both are trying their darndest to get in storage...

cheers,
pigboy
