Arthur Levitt is a typical old-boy networker type. What he really doesn't like is that companies like Cisco, Intel and Microsoft started the trend of helping to make line employees rich, instead of leaving it as the exclusive perk of top executives.

Arthur doesn't like that, because that's less money for his captains of industry buddies. Stock options are an incredible chance for all us workaday schmucks who will never have a real chance at true wealth otherwise. Why do they begrudge us that?

I say don't fight the trend. More and more companies are starting to compensate employees with options as well as a salary, and that means a better distribution of wealth for all. Granted if you only job is investing, then this doesn't benefit you, but if like most of us, you have a dayjob in addition to investing, then this is a real prime opportunity for you to make a lot of money with a company.

What a joke Levitt is. Sure why don't we just put a cap on how much money middle americans can make every year as well. That way we can make sure that all the wealth really stays concentrated at the top. What really cracks me up is that he couches his arguments in the "I'm an advocate for shareholder's rights" crap. Blah blah blah.
