Lundin Oil (IPC): Sudan: President Bashir meets delegation of oil consortium Text of report by Sudanese TV on 21 January Representatives from a consortium of oil firms operating in the 5th square to extract the Sudanese oil today met the president of the republic, Staff Lt-Gen Umar al-Bashir, and affirmed that they will do their best to produce oil. They commended the honest cooperation they received from the government that enabled them to perform their duties easily. The energy and mining minister, Dr Awad Ahmad al-Jaz, said that the representatives from the consortium of firms consisting of IPC, the Austrian OMV, Malaysian Petronas and Sudanese Sudapet, congratulated his excellency the president for the renewed confidence in him by the people and his re-election for a second presidential term. They also congratulated him on the completion of the road from Bentiu to km 90 south [southern Sudan] and completion of the first oilfield in the fifth square.
