>>First, Al Gore wanted the whole county recounted, as the law required.

Wrong. He never requested that. In fact he fought that even though the law required that any hand count be of the entire county.

That was one of the may reasons the real Supreme Court vacated the FL Gore court and ended AlGore's brazen attempt to steal the election.

>>Imo, every professional politician associated with the Florida election believed that a statewide recount would have been likely to benefit Gore because the majority of the undervote, just going by raw numbers, was produced in Democratic precincts. It could turn out differently, but that was the rational expectation.

Wrong, every disinterested statistician said that any recount would support a Bush victory. Dem pollster Pat Caddell stated that many many times on MSNBC.

Further, Pat Caddell said that Bush should have won FL by at least 10,000 if people in the panhandle had not be deterred by the early and erroneous call that AlGore carried FL. That call was made before the polls closed in the havily GOP NW part of the state and it was shown that turnout fell below what it should have been as a consequence of the pro-Gore media move.
