QUALCOMM Incorporated QCOM, pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the promotion of James A. Clifford to senior vice president for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT), the integrated circuits and system software division of QUALCOMM.
In his new role, Clifford will oversee all operational activities for QCT, including all aspects of the division's quality, wafer fab foundry and packaging organizations.
"Jim's ongoing overall leadership and semiconductor experience have been instrumental in QCT's success," said Don Schrock, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "His contributions are sincerely appreciated and we look forward to his continued help in guiding our strong growth for the future."
Clifford supported OmniTRACS product development for two years before joining QCT in 1996. Since 1997, he has served as vice president for QCT. With more than 25 years of leadership experience for a variety of engineering, semiconductor and manufacturing companies, Clifford has been recognized as an intuitive problem solver who quickly and accurately assesses situations and brings about effective solutions. Prior to joining QUALCOMM, Clifford worked for UNISYS Corporation, where he held several key roles, including vice president and general manager of UNISYS' Component Engineering and Procurement Organizations; director of engineering; and assistant program general manager.
Clifford holds a bachelor's of science degree in physics from San Diego State University and is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego's Graduate Executive Program for Scientists and Engineers. <<
