Dear DMA: SPEAKING OF PARDONS--Without commenting on any specific pardon, I feel that for ANYONE to issue 140 Pardons in one night really is an affront to the Justice system. Pardons are a serious business (or should be). It is IN MY JUDGEMENT the greatest power a President has and it cannot be overruled by anyone. For that reason, I think Pardons should be done judiciously and only in cases of grave injustice. To handle them in the manner of what was done by Clinton is INSULTING IMHO. JDN
