Matsushita CDMA Deal Lines Qualcomm Pockets
BY KRISTY BASSUENER
JANUARY 22, 2001
Japanese electronics manufacturer Matsushita has licensed CDMA technology
from Qualcomm to made modem cards for wireless devices. Matsushita says it
will use the cards for mobile and third-generation applications including
streaming audio and video. Royalty fees and other terms of the deal were not
disclosed.

Qualcomm sold its handset and chipset manufacturing businesses to focus
almost exclusively on its intellectual property patents and holdings. The company
is paid royalties each time a company chooses to use CDMA over TDMA, GSM or
other wireless networks. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
