But in a conference call Monday afternoon, Jain and Sarin tried to dispel such notions. "It seems like there are a lot of changes in management, but the facts are that very little will change from the perspective of our business and our employees," Jain said. He also appeared on CNBC earlier to address the concerns.

Sarin said he was reducing his role at the company because the commute between InfoSpace headquarters in Seattle and his family in the San Francisco area had become burdensome. "It has become increasingly apparent that InfoSpace needed me to spend more time in Seattle," he said. "I had committed to my family that I would not ask them to move to Seattle." He acknowledged that his new role would mean "less engagement" with InfoSpace.

InfoSpace also named Ed Belsheim as chief operating officer. Belsheim, who was previously senior vice president and general counsel, replaces Russell Horowitz, the former chairman and chief executive of Go2Net Inc. who joined InfoSpace when it acquired Go2Net in a stock deal in October. Also, InfoSpace named Tammy Halstead chief financial officer, replacing Rand Rosenberg. Horowitz will serve as executive consultant.

Jain said Horowitz's reduced role would "send a message" to InfoSpace employees that "there is one company, with one leadership." As for Rosenberg, Jain said that he, like Sarin, had been commuting from the San Francisco area. "What we felt was we wanted people here 16 hours a day, seven days a week," Jain said.

Jain said he spoke to Horowitz late Sunday night and that Horowitz said he was "completely committed to helping us." Horowitz didn't speak during the conference call and couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

I especially don't like Jain's quote about Russ.

Still long, so far, but losing reasons to be (like Russ).
