JUDGE LAMBERTH TO OVERSEE TRANSFER OF CLINTON-GORE

Federal Judge Will Personally Ensure Integrity of Data

(Washington, D.C.) The Honorable Royce C. Lamberth announced today that he would personally inspect and oversee the process of the Clinton-Gore White House transfer of disputed e-mail tapes and other computer materials to the National Archives. Judicial Watch had asked for this intervention from the judge to ensure that Clinton-Gore White House e-mail and other computer materials were not destroyed during the presidential transition.

The computer tapes at issue contain Clinton-Gore White House e-mail that had been hidden from Judge Lamberth and other investigators for nearly two years. Judicial Watch uncovered the e-mail through White House whistleblower Sheryl Hall, who said that White House officials threatened Northrop Grumman computer contractors to keep the e-mail secret. The scandal is being pursued by Judicial Watch in its ongoing Filegate civil lawsuit on behalf of those Reagan and Bush staffers and others whose FBI files were taken and misused by this White House.

Judicial Watch also uncovered that at least six months of e-mail data had already been destroyed by the Clinton-Gore White House and that there were plans by Clinton-Gore officials to destroy other computer evidence. Other sources have told Judicial Watch that the Clinton-Gore White House is in a panic to destroy computer evidence before January 20.

“Judge Lamberth obviously doesn’t trust the Clinton-Gore White House to effect the transfer of the computer documents honestly. We appreciate his personal involvement,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
