hi pw "Increasing the sampling frequency places higher burdens on the system, while infrequent checks will delay your detection of potential problems." what a succinct way of putting that. you make a great point. enough of a point to cause me to recheck frequency settings for my sensors. i changed two. by default, windoc wants to run once a week. i bumped that to daily. by default, drive scan wants to run daily. i made it 2 hrs. keep in mind that this is not speed disk, just the scan that informs the sensor of the drive's condition. i would add to your post by saying that when tweaking these settings, be cognizant of what all changes whenever you click the default. i noticed, for instance, that the drive scan default for frequency of scan subtly flipped back to c:drive, when it had been set for my f:drive. this only impacts folks who are dual booting, i suppose. but it points to the necessity of keeping your eye on what really changes when the default condition is activated. :) mark
