The limitations of the material seem to limit. No good old easy insulators to be had from the substrate. The difficulty in making a 3M transistor package are formidable, and may never be solved. After being involved 30 years ago, I am somewhat dated now. I was of the opinion they were slowly getting larger devices(more Transistors) but from what you imply they will never reach it.
