CF,

The reason to have an organized party is to win office and promote the views and preferences of the party members.

Thus the goal of "the party" is in fact to be united in sufficient majority to effect victory.

If personal freedom is a goal of the majority of the Democratic party, then that issue could be the touchstone to move the members to support the platform, and secure the goal.

Personal freedom from a Democrat has always interested me. A discussion for another evening. I think that you would find that true freedom lives elsewhere. Again, my party is the party of freedom. Yours is the party of freedom only when a certain group needs that message to be moved to secure the office. Examples I have, but time I do not. Maybe tomorrow, or when you have time.

You have to really define what you mean my personal freedom. How a party that produces dependence can make such a claim is quite absurd. Again, you must get out of the box and see both the good and the bad. I know the bad on my side of the fence, and only by knowing that can I ever change it. If you do not really see the bad, then like cancer unchecked it grows until it is more you than you are you.
