As a buyer of stocks, think about how many optical equip suppliers there are now to choose from to buy stock in. How do you decide which one(s) to buy?

This is the problem. The supply is now meeting the demand. Earnings bravado no longer really matters. We saw this with the B2C internet stocks. Then, we saw it happen with the B2B internet stocks. Now suprise, the same silly thing is happening with optical.

The folks on the avnx board argued to the death with me on this, even as their beloved insiders are selling millions of avnx shares right into the float. That was at avnx 90 - 110. When the public float is ballooning like that, the co's IP starts to become irrelavant to the prudent investor.

And bet your boots, the ipo 144 expiries of the opticals that came public in 2000 are ongoing- insiders of all these opticals can now sell their 100's of millions of shares.

Supply v. demand. That's what it comes down to. Sometimes the dream dies hard. But it always dies.
