Good morning Scott, as you know there haven't been any new nuclear plants built in this country in more than 2 decades. Most nuclear R&Ds have been on the back end ie., the waste issue. However there're small positive steps being taken to revive the front end nuclear program. The nuclear industry believes the Bush administration will be more nuclear friendly. It's unfortunate that advanced reactor concept like the Integral Fast Reactor (IFR) was terminated in the last decade. The IFR is a passively safe reactor that burns its own actinides which eliminates one of the biggest headaches in high level waste handling and storage. I can't say enough good things about the IFR. Its technological advances were completely overshadowed by the taboos it was associated with under heavy opposition by nuclear opponents.

The French draws 75% of electricity from nuclear power plants and you don't hear their people or special interest groups making unfounded noises like in the States. Without nuclear, the French economy will be completely crippled.

I strongly advocate a revival of the nuclear program.

Regards,

Tom
