I'm not going to back to the first post on this subject, but a quick search revealed this passage from yesterday. How would you interpret the author's intent, "taught" or "taught about"?
"When I was in high school, sex education was limited to the animal realm and the very barest of basics about the human body. There were drawings of fallopian tubes and vas deferens, all in nice pastel shades, but what the genitalia looked like (even female!) was a mystery. Also, orgasms were discussed only as a means to eject sperm, and the cause of the orgasm was left unclear.
I'd like to see the topic of masturbation covered in school for a couple of reasons:
First, I believe it will allow for exploration and intimacy with one's own body. (I think this is more necessary for girls, as boys seem to come to it naturally).
Second, if anything, I believe that knowing how to masturbate, and being taught that it is acceptable, may very well discourage some early sexual behavior between adolescents..." |
