Dave, good question - data reliably and connections.

Yes, between the Data Manager and our API, third party applications only connect to the servers they need once, so it is not sending the data multiple times. That is why we do not have a problem with users running eSignal, or multiple instances of eSignal (like on multiple monitors) plus other software products or Excel at the same time on one computer - as long as your PC has the power and memory it will run fine. eSignal itself uses the same DM and API.

The other VERY important part of this is the logic of connecting to servers is in the API. So if a connection is lost it knows how to reconnect to a new server automatically without the user or the third party program needing to get involved. When starting up eSignal it knows to find the very least used server in the entire server farm from over 5 computer sites we run across the country. This logic means you will be connected the very fastest machine available at the time. If for some reason that server crashes or the connection is lost, the process is repeated to reconnect to the least used server - and thus the fastest server now available.

Sorry so long winded, but its a critical point to understand if you are concerned about reliable data flow.

Chuck
