Hunter, you are correct.

SanDisk will receive an $8 million royalty from Lexar and will pay
$2 million for the paid-up SmartMedia licenses for a net gain
of $6 million dollars.

Lexar stated that any remaining infringing product will be sent to Japan
for sale. It appears that '987 is not recognized in Japan or that
SanDisk has elected not to enforce it other than the Mitsubisi
litigation that is pending.

Does the Lexar card recall and firmware upgrade indicate that their
workaround is having trouble? It will be interesting to see if there
will be further bugs with their newly designed CompactFlash.
