as long as you stay away from the small caps in this sector.

Not totally true. Although investors do like the big cap names, I made the most money by buying the following:

1)LTXX at $2.00 a share ( sold at 25)
2) PHTN at 3 1/2 a share sold at $23 and watched it go to 40
3) IPEC at $1.00 a share till purchased by SFAM
4) PHTN at $4.00 a share and sold at 30. (second transaction)
5)SVGI at $10.00 a share and sold at 28
6) KLIC at 14 and sold at 80

Each of these transactions lasted less than a year (except for KLIC)

On the flip side

1)Bought KMAG at 30 and sold at 17
2) a few others too painful to recall

On the horizon: FMO (auto parts maker that is not going out of business or recievership at about $4.00 a share.

Distressed companies are always worth a few hundred shares. Nothing to bet the house on, but rewarding non the less.
