homer, Westinghouse and GE have done little in the advances of nuclear technology for 2 decades. Since they are for-profit, the bean counters can't cough up money for R&D knowing there's no return on investment. Government funding is lean, there's not much for them after the national laboratories have taken their shares.

On this thread we had some interesting discussions last Nov on the election fiasco, now the topic is energy and energy crisis. Isn't it great? And who knows, the next related topic may just be about the high gas bills some of us got today and my friends here are willing to extend their hearts and open the wallets to help pay the bills just so the less fortunate don't have to keep the thermostat at 52 degrees. Man it's cold, I'm cold. :-)
