A few months ago (before the NMSS miss) I read an interview with the CEO of NMSS and he really sounded clueless, just in describing what the company does he was very vague. I realized that this company would not be competition for AUDC - it is very unfocused, with its hands in many different things, while master of none, and I did not have a high opinion of management (at least the CEO) after reading the interview. I think the real competition for AUDC is Telogy/TXN, Dialogic/INTC, and probably BRCM - I never understood the fixation on NMSS. I think BRKT is the only pure-play company that is competition, but I think AUDC will continue to handle them easily. I also think AUDC will continue to more than hold its own against the big boys. I have been meaning to find out about royalties from their patents, I started to think about this when I saw BRCM's announcement of their VoIP chip about 6-8 weeks ago, but I have been lazy. I also wanted to find out if BRCM had partnered at all with AUDC. Seems to me at the very least that AUDC will be due royalties from any competitor chips that support the relevant ITU standards.

I believe this company has many similarities to CHKP in the '97 time frame (besides being Israeli). The drop to 10 was a gift to anyone who took advantage of it.

Regarding DFXI, the numbers look great but I caution you to look at what happened to CML group (owner of NordicTrack) a few years back and make sure you have confidence in the management.
