At first, I thought that Joe Bob was funny, but then I realized he was only a stereotype.

GZ will understand why I was amused at the "trailer park" reference in the post on his thread; I won't go into it here.

But, in general, it makes me uncomfortable when people poke fun at other people simply because they live in unfashionable places (in this case, trailer parks). Social snobbery does not appeal to me. And I am sure that not everyone who lives in a trailer park is a Joe Bob. (Who knows? I may have to move to one myself soon, if my portfolio does not recover faster!)

And calling someone "trailer trash" is no better than calling him/her a "nigger," a "kike," a "wop," or whatever.
I don't care for it, even when -- or perhaps I should say especially when -- it is meant "in fun."
