Z-Tel to Add Text-to-Speech Functionality to Z-Line Home Edition
TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2001--Z-Tel Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZTEL - news), a provider of advanced, integrated communications services to residential customers, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with SpeechWorks International, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPWX - news), a leader in the telephony-based speech industry, to license its Speechify(TM) text-to-speech (TTS) engine. Z-Tel plans to eventually bring, through the integration of Speechify, text-to-speech capability to Z-Line Home Edition(TM), its bundled residential telephone service.
