The Barron's story is about 5-6 months old. Other journalists have been talking about an impending bandwidth glut for the last couple years.

It hasn't happened yet. Sort of reminds me of processing power back in the early 70s. The company I worked for just bought a brand spanking new IBM 360/65 which was going to provide enough capacity to last the company for 10 years. 10 months later, it was overloaded and a 370/155 was on its way in. (The 155 provided about 4 times the power of the 360/65 and represents, at best, about 1/10th the power of an average desktop today.)

IMO, the same type of revolution is happening with bandwidth usage. Provide it and they will come.

Ian.
