"Microtune Files Suit Against Broadcom for Patent Infringement
BUSINESS WIRE - January 24, 2001 12:15
PLANO, Texas, Jan 24, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Microtune, Inc. (Nasdaq:TUNE) announced today that it has filed a lawsuit against Broadcom Corporation for patent infringement.

The suit, which was filed January 24, 2001, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Sherman Division, alleges that Broadcom Corporation's BCM 3415 microchip infringes Microtune's United States Patent No. 5,737,035, entitled 'Highly Integrated Television Tuner on a Single Microcircuit'. In its Complaint, Microtune seeks to recover monetary damages resulting from the alleged infringement, as well as injunctive relief precluding Broadcom from taking any further action that infringes the 5,737,035 Patent.

"Microtune, as the inventor of the single-chip broadband tuner, has made a tremendous investment of time and money in its intellectual property and will not hesitate to protect its rights," stated Douglas J. Bartek, Microtune Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Microtune feels strongly that its '035 patent, and the technology covered by it, is a valuable company asset that must be protected from any unauthorized use."

Microtune is represented in the litigation by the Dallas and Austin offices of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., as well as by Clyde Siebman of Sherman, Texas.
