Yes, the point is that the Super Highway has been widened. But this is no good if the on-ramp local feeder roads (DSL, CABLE) and local feeder highways (Metropolitan networks) are not expanded.

ALL the bottleneck is at the edge of the network and as soon as this is removed, watch the bits surge to overwhelm the core networks.

Everyone I know that uses dial-up basically don't even bother surfing at certain time of day and even when they do surf in quiet periods, the World Wide Wait is so painfully slow that it's just not worth doing anything interactive on the Net right now....all that will change as Broadband becomes available.
