If the price of oil is low, that indicates that there is enough supply, and no need to destroy the ANWR.

I wouldn't equate drilling for oil with destruction of ANWR (whatever it stands for - Alaska Northern Wildlife Refuge?). But I understand that you have some constraints placed upon you by your ideology (or party affiliation) that require you to think that.

But as I posted earlier, I am not crazy about starting of oil drilling there at current prices. There is a finite quantity of oil there, and I would rather sell it 10, 20 or 30 years from now when the prices may be quadruple of current prices.

Another thing I am not clear about is the lead time. Suppose someone says "Go" now. How long will it take before a meaningful quantity of oil is delivered on the market? It would be nice to have it ready to deal with a sudden shock in prices. I think the economy can absorb slow and steady rise, but a sudden jump may cause unnecessary damage.
