I get 1Mb service on copper using DSL and Nortel's modems. My service provider is now rolling out the ALA version which could provide better than 6Mb/sec on copper. From those getting the ALA DSL residence service, it seems that their bandwidth is being restricted to 1 Mb/sec. Very small sample, so I don't know whether the ALA QoS is being used as a governor or if other factors are at play.

In any case, bandwidth has not stopped me from doing anything I want to do. And the price is very competitive with dialup.
