The $1.6trillion figure is so large because it is over 10 years. If you want to make it sound really large it might be over $300 trillion by the year 3000 but the real measure of a tax cut is the % of the cut not a $ figure that can be arbitraily inflated by increaseing the number of years you count.

Tim,

We have had ten years of prosperity coupled with the lowest unemployment rate in a generation. Giving out tax cuts are nto all that effective, patronizing and akin to bribery......if you go out and spend, we will give you the $$$.

What's needed to get our economy moving is more liquidity and assurances that steps are being taken to provide that liquidity....and that is happening thru the fed moves. Why do you think the feds jumped in with that 1/2 pt basis cut? AH knows how stupid this tax cut proposal is. Bush wants to be Captain America and heal the wounds from this past election with the ole $$$ salve.

Well, very few are falling for the premise but everyone will take the money. Why not?
